Woodland Carbon Code

Description

Ackron Mixed is one of the oldest projects under the Woodland Carbon Code, situated across 40 hectares in Sutherland, Scotland.

The project transitioned rolling moorland and sheep grazing land into a diverse native woodland consisting of a broadleaf and conifer mix. Panting was intentionally spaced to support priority species, from the black and red grouse to the hen harrier, the merlin, and the short-eared owl.

Ackron Mixed generates carbon revenue from high-quality premium credits and supports social and environmental co-benefits. These include equine access (for hacking) and water catchment management by interception of rainfall. The project and tree planting have been designed to not only support native habitat creation but also provide shelter for livestock.

Treeconomy ensures that Ackron Mixed is a transparent carbon project and maintains ongoing monitoring via remote sensing technology. Ackron Mixed's carbon units can be traced to the individual tree.

Ackron Mixed represents a rare opportunity to purchase high-quality nature-based carbon removal credits from one of the oldest projects in the Woodland Carbon Code. Future vintages will be available.
